Hey, stop in at Vance if you have time. A certain regular there who uses a carrot for an icon has posted some outrageous statements about Dick and the VALIS books. If he weren't so obviously fishing to get a rise out of Dick fans, I would have ripped him a new one. He's a slippery one. I would like to "educate" him, but do not know a safe way of doing so that will not leave him appearing as the sympathetic affronted party -- even though he's the one dangling bate. -Dave

Now that season 4 of Lost is out on DVD, Judy and I are catching up with it because season 5 starts in a week or two and we don't want to miss it this year. So on disk 2, there is ultra-baddie Ben reading the Knopf paperback edition of VALIS. The camera zoomed in on the cover so all of us Dick fans could go, Oh wow. Lost is an extremely weird show with all sorts of mind-bending stuff, so it makes sense that the writers are into Dick. BTW, it was Ben's book and he'd already read...

My old buddy The Mascara Snake from the defunct Dick board seems to recall a Dick book in which Jesus is depicted as having taken an entheogen. I do not recall this although I am quite aware of John Allegro's theory. Could it have been in Transmigration of Timothy Archer?

So, turns out I might be writing my master's thesis on Philip K Dick. Thrilling, no? And I'd never have even picked him up, most likely, were it not for this place.
